Project to Decolonize Coffee

The Project to Decolonize Coffee partners up with individuals, mission based organizations, and members of the wider coffee-producing community to ensure that farmers receive a larger share of the wealth that coffee creates. To that end, the Project to Decolonize Coffee promotes a sustainable, roasted-at-origin model designed to increase growers' share in the coffee supply chain. Additionally, the Project to Decolonize Coffee partners with artists and innovators in coffee-producing companies to tell the stories of growers, raise awareness, and make art that changes the way people think about growers.

GIVING TUESDAY

Giving Tuesday is a Movement that Unleashes the Power of Radical Generosity Around the World, and Nonprofits leverage the energy of GivingTuesday to tell their stories, engage lifelong advocates, and build an active community to support our missions.

This year will be our second year participating in Giving Tuesday, and as an organization we have set a goal of raising $5,000 (USD), to assist us in our end of year projects.

During our Founder’s trip through Colombia, he made a stop in Manizales, Caldas, location of our Latin America Headquarters, to meet with our team and to visit Finca El Vergel to say Hi to Don Gabriel Galvis. This year Don Gabriel has been a major contributor to our organization’s success. Finca El Vergel is our National Farm Model and that is because of the dedication and commitment that Don Gabriel has for producing a coffee of the highest quality. During, this farm tour Don Gabriel took us throughout his farm and showed us his processes and was able to spend time chatting with the management team on future projects. Colombia is known for producing coffee of the highest quality and that is all thanks to our coffee farmers and their families for their hard work leaving the name of Colombia in high glory.

Yes, there the hands of the coffee growers in combination with the natural resources make this magic possible, so that who interprets a coffee in its preparation leads you to a direct contact between its origin, its culture and the final experience that the second most consumed drink in the world transmits. The PDC today joins this memorable date in which a life of hard work of Colombian families and ancestors is celebrated.
